I just finished reading The
Hangman's Daughter! What a Book!! I can't believe the things that
happened back in these days. The fact that they could accuse someone of
being a witch all because they thought so is unreal!! I couldn't understand at
first why the book was called The Hangman's daughter as she didn't have too
much to do with the story. I guess more towards the end she did. The plot
is back in the 1600's and children are being killed. The town rallies to
blame a woman that they say is a witch, and she is thrown in jail. They
then torture the woman trying to get her to confess. The town has "A
Hangman" who carries out all of the death sentences. In this case,
the "Witch" delivered the hangmans children, and alot of the other
children and the hangman knows she is not guilty. So, he works together
with the physicians son, (his daughters unallowed boyfriend) to find out the
truth. In the end, they find out it was the devil and the hangman kills
him. They then take the witch out of jail and the town returns to normal.
The hangman then allows his daughter to date the physician's son which is
normally forbidden.
This was a good book, but not my
normal genre of book. Thanks BzzAgent for my free E-Books!! On to the
next one..............
